Jan. 30. 2016

                Think in the morning.
                Act in the noon.
                Eat in the evening.
                Sleep in the night.
                                 - William Blake

After a two month hiatus away from Glory Days, I am back... but regretfully only for a few days.  Being on the boat just feels like home.  But other responsibilities inland have taken priority, as they should, when family is the reason.

But anyway I look at it, blessings abound. Here, there, and anywhere.
Happiness is in the heart, not a place.
 And so this tale begins.

I must say, it's always a lovely occurrence when a late January sunrise decides to synch perfectly with a winter's low tide as she makes her final ebb at 7:18 a.m.
As was the case today when the calm Atlantic nuzzled and kissed the sand at Glynn County's Saint Simons Island.

Glory Days has rested here at the island for 6 months now and with only 3-4 outings during that spell.  I know she must be restless, and hopefully I'll let her out of her stall tomorrow if conditions allow.
A Sunday sail is my kind of church.

But before any of that can happen, there's a boatload of cleaning to do... I've heard the saying "rust never sleeps."  Well, with a boat on the salty coast, the saying is "mold never sleeps."  It took nearly 4 hours of wiping down every nook and cranny inside using rags soaked in vinegar and Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap.  But now she smells sweet as peppermint.

The morning .  I arrived while it was still dark and savored the budding dawn as it fermented into a circus of colors.  Then a thought occurred to me. I wonder if my recent sleep disorder issues means I have matured into one of those old guys who actually rises at 5 a.m. like clockwork.  It's not a bad thing, just a new thing.  Rise my son and feed the forces of nature said the Universe to me.  So maybe I AM old enough now to be a morning guy.

I'm gonna be a morning guy
just you wait and see.
My feet will hit the floor each day at 5:30
Then I'll seize the day
and I'll be sound asleep by ten.
I'm gonna be a morning guy,
but I just don't know when.

When you're on the beach at daybreak, it seems nearly everyone has a bow wow with them.

For some reason, these next shots look like a painting to me.  This is the closest I'll ever get to painting a pretty scene.

I couldn't help but smile when this music note dropped right out the sky... it came suddenly and then it melted away like a ghost in a matter of seconds.
Let the music play.

 So what's with chemtrails?
At first I was skeptical to those who proclaim that chemtrails like these are some sinister governmental mission to douse all of us with something spooky... I'm not sure what spooky stuff they are spraying, but it ain't good.  I did it find it odd that the trails I witnessed today had just been release at the darkest hour, just before dawn. Like when nobody's watching, man.

If you would like to know more about the controversial issue of Chemtrails, here's a link for further discussion... I'm beginning to think there is something to this.

So long folks for now.
It was a great start to my first day back greeting the sun.  After shooting those photos and breathing chemtrails I was back at the boat. All I did for the rest of the day was wipe off mold, remove all gear from the lazarette, scrub down the holding tank, study the plumbing system, hand wash the curtains, hang them out to dry, vacuum the whole boat, scrub the floor, go to West Marine for parts, replace the joker valve on the head, schedule a bottom cleaning, run up and down the companionway stairs 40 times, do 30 body lifts, go to Winn Dixie, play a little guitar, appreciate
Doc Watson, wash and fold two loads of laundry, install a solar light,
and eat a rotisserie chicken with no sides dishes.
Now it's horizontal time.  Good night folks.

I could wake up with the roosters and
I could sing a new song.
In the wee wee hours long before dawn.
I'll be getting things done
not a moment too soon.
I'm gonna be a morning guy
at the crack of noon.
