Morning Has Broken

Thank you Cat Stephens

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlight from heaven.
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetnes of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God's recreation of the new day.

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Morning has broken, like the first morning.

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.

I'm not really a morning guy, but I try to be.  Somehow I managed to get up at 6 a.m. for 3 days in a row to get these sunrise photos on the beach near Jacksonville... i"m glad I did.   They seem to get richer as you scroll down... like a fine wine fermenting into it's peak... I'm not sure who the pilot was toward the end... but he likes to fly his little ultra light plane just as the sun is rising.

You can scroll to the bottom here and click on the Youtube video of the great Hymn, Morning Has Broken… Listen to the tune and enjoy the morning photos…hmmmmm

Perfect Day Sail with The Malcolm-mater

“What is more pleasant than a friendly little yacht,
a long stretch of smooth water,
a gentle breeze, the stars?”

William Atkin”

My friend Malcolm, former dock neighbor at Lake Lanier, made his way down south recently.  Malcolm is quite the sailor in his own right, and drove his motor home to Amelia Island recently to check out the area and the logistics for moving his own boat down this way soon. I love Amelia Island, so I naturally recommended it as a great place to keep a boat... However, stay tuned for new postings about sailing south to Fort Lauderdale and onward to the Florida Keys.

Long story short, we took this cool little day sail from Fernandina Harbor out to the jetties, and then back home with Cumberland Island on our starboard side as we returned.  All in all is was quite the perfect outing....
Glory Days port side
It was nice to have someone else to take the helm for a change while I tweaked the sails and relaxed more than I usually do.
Easy day sail... so quite and steady.
Pelicans seem to be more prevalent than they were a few months ago.//a migration thing?
While dolphins seem to be seen less than a few months ago.... trading places I suppose... I love pondering these things.
Sportfishers are all too common... loud, expensive, big wakes... they don't get it.

Malcolm was able to take some shots of GloryDays with her sails up.
... cause it's impossible to take pix of your own boat when you are ON IT all the time... Thanks Malc!

This is what I do now.

... bringin' her in now....

View of the marina from the water...
A perfect sunset to end a perfect day on the water...
So long Malcolm!

All This Senseless Beauty

"There is no exquisite beauty ... without some strangeness in the proportion."
Edgar Allen Poe

Sometimes there's a story line to these posts ... sometimes there's not.

Here's a random selection of some recent shots mixed with some favorite older shots that still move me.

This is what I call great night lights.
For some reason, this is my favorite shrimp boat shot...
shrimpers are everywhere it seems.  Always give them the right of way.
a.m. approach.... Jax beach... coffee in hand.
new dawn.... not bad for a non-morning guy.
Good Morning October! Yogi Joe.
And the sun did rise...
eatin' sunrise ... me like it.

Here's some assorted pics from days past that still move me
