Perfect Day Sail with The Malcolm-mater

“What is more pleasant than a friendly little yacht,
a long stretch of smooth water,
a gentle breeze, the stars?”

William Atkin”

My friend Malcolm, former dock neighbor at Lake Lanier, made his way down south recently.  Malcolm is quite the sailor in his own right, and drove his motor home to Amelia Island recently to check out the area and the logistics for moving his own boat down this way soon. I love Amelia Island, so I naturally recommended it as a great place to keep a boat... However, stay tuned for new postings about sailing south to Fort Lauderdale and onward to the Florida Keys.

Long story short, we took this cool little day sail from Fernandina Harbor out to the jetties, and then back home with Cumberland Island on our starboard side as we returned.  All in all is was quite the perfect outing....
Glory Days port side
It was nice to have someone else to take the helm for a change while I tweaked the sails and relaxed more than I usually do.
Easy day sail... so quite and steady.
Pelicans seem to be more prevalent than they were a few months ago.//a migration thing?
While dolphins seem to be seen less than a few months ago.... trading places I suppose... I love pondering these things.
Sportfishers are all too common... loud, expensive, big wakes... they don't get it.

Malcolm was able to take some shots of GloryDays with her sails up.
... cause it's impossible to take pix of your own boat when you are ON IT all the time... Thanks Malc!

This is what I do now.

... bringin' her in now....

View of the marina from the water...
A perfect sunset to end a perfect day on the water...
So long Malcolm!
